Materials Needed:
~ Zipping Baggy
~ Paper Towel
~ Sun Flower Seeds
~ Corn Seeds
~ Water
Step 1) Fold a paper towel and place it in a zipping bag.
Step 2) Get some sun flower seed and corn seeds and place them inside the fold of the paper towel.
Step 3) Pour in a enough water to dampen the paper towel but not so much as to drown the seeds.
Step 4) Place this somewhere warm and dark and leave it along for 7 days.
HOW DOES IT WORK:
Flowering plants or angiosperms make seeds and want those seeds to have an energy source to help the embryo development before they get their true leaves for photosynthesis. This energy source which is stored oils, fats and protein is known as the Cotyledon.
Eudicots split their Cotyledon into two embryonic seed leaves and grow out of their seed coats. their Root system is usually a single large central taproot that grows vertically downwards, with many smaller lateral roots branching off. The leaves are
reticulate or having a vein like pattern and usually broad, flattened and attached to the stem. The flowers pestles tend to be in multiples of four or five.
Monocots do not split their Cotyledon and the embryo plant as well as the radical both grow from the coated seed. The root system is fibrous, featuring many thin, similar-sized roots that spread out from the base of the stem and replace the initial primary root quickly. This provides good surface area for absorption and soil stability.
The leaves usually long and narrow with parallel veins and often grow directing from the stem. the flowers are usually in multiples of three, such as the three petals and three sepals of a lily or iris.
