DIY Tin Can Suitcase Tutorial

This video shows how to make different miniature DIY tin can suitcases. I wanted to create something for my daughters and decided to try and come up with a design for a miniature rolling luggage or suitcase that can open and close. So I looked around for some plastic or tin can containers that have the right size and can open and close.

I was lucky to find these tin cans which had nice graphics and were perfect for creating suitcases of different sizes. I then set out to find buttons that could serve as the wheels and needed to figure out how to fix them to the suitcase.

In the end the best solution was to use metal binder clips for the axle mounting brackets and cotton swab sticks for the axles. The great thing about using the metal binder clips was that I could also use them for creating a handle that can fold flat against the suitcase. The metal binder clip pieces are glued to the tin can using super glue which seem to work better than the hot glue.

These DIY miniature tin can suitcases are super easy to make, quick, cheap and very functional so add them to your to-do list of miniature crafts. If you can't find containers with suitable decorations you can always paint them and use stickers.
