First Time Doing Bodywork! Fixing Rusty Wheel Arches on Paige’s ’64 Chevelle

Now that I’m officially a sheet metal and body repair expert (not even close), it’s time to start cutting on Paige’s 1964 Chevelle. The wheel arches and lower rear quarters are pretty rough — thin metal, plenty of rust, and more body filler than steel.

This is my first-ever body repair job, and I’m learning as I go. Instead of replacing full quarters, I decided to tackle the wheel arch patch panels and fix what I can. Once the old quarter skin came off, I found the outer wheelhouse had some rot too — which, let’s be real, is pretty much guaranteed when your wheel arch is shot.

In this video, I take on the wheel arch repair, with future videos covering the lower rear quarter and trunk pan work. It’s not perfect, but I’m proving that anyone can learn body repair with some patience, humor, and a welder.
