Mario Kart DS is the first game to introduce a battle mode that you can play in single player. You have the option of playing Balloon Battle mode or Sunshine Runners. I chose not to play Balloon Battle mode because I don't have a microphone to blow into on my computer, but even if I did, I still wouldn't because I never liked it as a kid. I would much rather Play Sunshine Runners because it's simpler and more enjoyable in my opinion.
There are a lot of interesting battle stages in this game. My favorite is the DS stage where you literally play on a giant, floating DS. That may be the most creative battle stage in the whole franchise!
