I had been thinking about a wood quilt project for a while and I landed on this 24"x24" wall hanging design that features walnut, maple, cherry, canarywood, black limba, leopardwood, and mahogany in a classic sawtooth star pattern. A specially made table saw sled made the task of cutting a couple hundred pieces relatively painless. The colors and grain of the different wood species really came out well I think (that leopardwood is particularly cool) and it does indeed capture the quilt spirit I was after.
