Novavax | How does Novavax work?

Novavax is a new vaccine option made in the USA. Novavax is a more traditional protein-based vaccine. It does not contain mRNA or viral vectors. Novavax works by attaching COVID spike proteins to a nanoparticle. Then an immune activating component, Saponin (soap-tree bark), is added to boost the immune response to the COVID spike proteins. Novavax is highly effective against the original coronavirus(96%) and the alpha variant (93%), but less so against the beta variant (55%). Novavax could be a good option for people who are concerned about the other vaccines currently available.
