5" Channel Tilt Carhauler (T5) Quick Walkaround

This week’s trailer is a 5" Channel Tilt Carhauler (T5). This T5 is built on a 5 inch channel frame and features a versatile 16 foot tilting deck with a hydraulic cylinder and proportioning valve. The valve and cylinder allows you to easily tilt the deck to help with quick loading and unloading. This model boasts a 7,000 to 9,900 pound GVWR and a load capacity from 4,560 to 7,000 pounds. The 83 inch wide deck makes it ideal for hauling cars, UTVs, and other small wheeled equipment.

The T5 is equipped with a 2 5/16 inch Demco eZ-Latch Coupler in an adjustable channel mount. This trailer comes standard with our PJ 7-way, all-weather wiring harness and an 8K top-wind, drop-leg jack. This jack helps to speed up hitching by quickly pulling a pin to adjust the jack height. This T5 trailer also comes with an optional spare tire.

Deck lengths range from 16 to 22 feet. All deck options feature a 75 inch width and a 16 foot tilting deck and standard, 3 inch by 16 inch cylinder for safe and smooth titling. With the 18 to 22 foot deck lengths, the T5 gains an additional 2 to 6 feet of stationary deck space.

The T5 can also be upgraded to our PJ exclusive, Blackwood Pro decking upgrade. This is available in an outer-deck or full-deck configuration. The T5 comes standard with 2 inch, treated Southern Yellow Pine and Rubrail with stake pockets and pipe spools for securing cargo.

For the running gear, the T5 comes standard with two 3,500 pound axles. The trailer in this video is upgraded to two 5,200 pound Dexter EZ Lube Axles with electric brakes on a spring suspension. The T5 also comes standard with ST225/75R15 radial tires that last longer than traditional trailer tires. These are covered by removable aluminum diamond-plate fenders.

The rear of this deck is taper cut to provide a ‘knife-edge’ tail. This, coupled with the 24 inch deck height, provides an 11 degree loading angle. This angle is ideal for loading small-wheeled equipment like scissor and forklifts.
