Objective: The main aim of this webinar is to present the 2024 findings of the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD). This edition marks 30 years of monitoring, during which ESPAD has continuously evolved to reflect the changing realities of adolescent life. In response to growing public health concerns, this year's study expands its focus to include new areas, including mental well-being and the reach of prevention interventions.
Background: ESPAD is the world's largest cross-national research project on adolescent substance use and other risk behaviours. The project collects comparable data on substance use among 15–16-year-old students. In collaboration with the EUDA, it brings together independent research teams in over 40 European countries. Three decades of ESPAD monitoring allows for trend analysis as well as generational comparisons. This helps inform more effective and targeted youth policies across Europe.
