This year’s Vatican Nativity scene honors Saint Alfonso Maria de’ Liguori, who helped evangelize the shepherds of Italy. EWTN News was granted access inside the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Consolazione in Deliceto, Puglia, where Saint Alfonso was inspired to write the Christmas song “Tu Scendi dalle Stelle” to share the love of Jesus with simple people. Father Luca, the rector of the church, explains what inspired Alfonso Maria de’ Liguori to write this song. EWTN Vatican journalist Valentina Di Donato has more.
