A GRE sequence is a series of radiofrequency (RF) pulses that are repeated at a time interval (TR).
The RF pulses are often chosen to have flip angles less than 90°. A GRE sequence does not have an 180 degree pulse, and its T2 relaxation is called T2* relaxation
The gradient technique reduces scan time by using small flip angles and short repetition times
GRE sequences are used to acquire T2*, T1, and proton density weighting.
spin-echo sequence (leading to shorter TE) and is susceptible to static field inhomogeneities.
