Cultural Competence is the ability to understand, appreciate, and effectively interact with people from diverse cultures is a critical skill for creating a positive, inclusive, and productive environment in any team, organization, or community. By proactively developing and implementing these principles, organizations can enhance communication, foster teamwork, improve conflict resolution, and drive innovation. You will learn how your own commitment to cultural competence can assist you in creating safe and inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and respected that can lead to positive and sustainable change.

Kimberley Barker holds a Ph.D. in organization development and an M.B.A. with a concentration in management. She has extensive experience in organizational development, human resources, commercial banking, and operations administration. Barker teaches management, organization development, global leadership, strategic marketing management, teams, business research, career design, cultural competence, and business communication in the Management Department, College of Business, Eastern Michigan University. Barker is a certified cultural management coach with Fons Trompenaars’s THT Professional Network. Trompenaars is routinely listed as a top 50 management thinker in the world.
