Why Japan's Second Largest Island is Almost EMPTY!

This is Hokkaido, the 2nd largest island in Japan which has comparatively less population compared to other major islands in Japan. The reason being its separation from the main island of Honshu and it's harsh climate which is not in favor of human settlement and agriculture.
