This tune was originally composed by arranger, composer and double bassist Spike Hughes and was recorded in New York, 1933, during his renowned productive recording years. The original recording features a mixed bag of musicians from the great local orchestras of the time; the ensemble was named "Spike Hughes and His Negro Orchestra" for this recording session, prominently featuring the great tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins, who played the lead melody.
