DIY AllStar Node... There HAS to Be an EASY Way?

If you want to setup a DIY AllstarLink node without using a Shari, for instance a high powered node - you will need a way of interfacing between the Pi and the radio. Usually that is where a CM108 sound card device comes in - but it needs modding. We talk today about the struggles and, is there any easier way than this?
