In this episode, acclaimed author Dr. Scott Ellsworth joins us to discuss his new book, Midnight on the Potomac: The Last Year of the Civil War, the Lincoln Assassination, and the Rebirth of America. Ellsworth chronicles the final, tumultuous months of the Civil War, from the halls of the White House to secret spy networks and battlefields in Virginia, illuminating this consequential moment in American history through the experiences of political and military leaders, common soldiers, formerly enslaved people, and citizens.
