Today we take a long overdue look at a reissue of one of the most iconic and influential Seiko dive watches ever made—known by watch enthusiasts as the “Captain Willard.”

In this video I review three color versions for this reissue—the Seiko SPB153, SPB151, and SPB183. One of the reasons I put off this review for so long is that I never liked its quirky, oversized case. But after wearing it for a week, have my perceptions changed? Is it all hype, or is there something truly special there? Does this latest incarnation honor the rich legacy of this watch and its cinematic stardom?
