There was a time when alliances offered original concessions. This was the case during the famous Hundred Years War, which saw the King of France Charles VII handing over in the name of the Auld Alliance, the seigneury of Aubigny to John Stuart of Darnley, Constable of the Army of Scotland. For almost 4 centuries, the village has lived in Scottish time, kilts, bagpipes and whiskeys lining places where the language of Shakespeare holds no secrets. Returned to French territory at the beginning of the 19th century, the Scottish heritage is still very present today.
Scotland manifests itself around every corner. From the Château des Stuarts which has become the Town Hall to this unique set of half-timbered houses, including the whisky brand "The Aubigny Auld Alliance" which proudly displays the local colors, all you need is the rain to truly believe yourself in Scotland. ! The splendor of this city, located on the Jacques Coeur Historical Route, is complemented by pretty heritage features such as the Philippe Auguste enclosure, the Gothic Church of Saint-Martin and the Augustins Cloister. Superb large gardens, inspired by Le Nôtre, have been bequeathed by the Duchess of Portsmouth.


Il fut un temps où les alliances offraient des concessions originales. Ce fut le cas pendant la célèbre Guerre de Cents Ans, qui vit le Roi de France Charles VII remettre au nom de l’Auld Alliance, la seigneurie d’Aubigny à John Stuart de Darnley, connétable de l’armée d’Ecosse. Pendant près de 4 siècles, le village vit à l’heure écossaise, kilts, cornemuses et whiskys tapissent les lieux où la langue de Shakespeare n’a de secrets pour personne. Redevenu territoire français au début du 19ème siècle, l’héritage écossais est aujourd’hui encore très présent.
L’Ecosse se manifeste à chaque coin de rue. Du Château des Stuarts devenu Hôtel de Ville à cet ensemble unique de maisons à colombage, en passant par la marque de Whisky « The Aubigny Auld Alliance » qui arbore fièrement les couleurs locales, il ne manque plus que la pluie pour se croire réellement en Ecosse ! La splendeur de cette ville, située sur la Route Historique Jacques Cœur, est complétée par de jolis éléments patrimoniaux comme l’enceinte Philippe Auguste, l’Eglise Gothique Saint-Martin ou encore le Cloître des Augustins. De superbes grands jardins, inspirés par Le Nôtre ont quant à eux étés légués par la Duchesse de Portsmouth.
