Many aspiring professional athletes make tremendous sacrifices for their sport and for their passion. It can be detrimental in the long run. Especially in such a high-impact, physically and emotionally demanding sport such as pro figure skating.
Years of their lives are spent training, usually from an incredibly young age: especially dynasty coaches and their athletes, as Victor, Yurio, and the other Russian skaters are under Yakov. Yuri doesn't spend time with other teenagers, or apparently go to school. He rarely sees his family, and like ballet dancers, there is a reason figure skaters' careers don't last terribly long.
Their bodies begin to fall apart.
Yurio's will someday, as will Yuuri's. His youth was a little different than Yurio's, but I feel that his was equally ruled by outside forces: skating, and his anxiety. The two Yuris have been incredibly successful in their careers, and both have idolized Victor Nikiforov. Who is one of the greatest in their field's existence. He inspired them, and where they succeeded, hundreds of others were tempted to try their luck at skating and failed. Thus his less than innocent view in this AMV.
This is just my take on the trauma and lack of childhood that the show doesn't really provide much insight on.
