In this 1930s travelogue film, American film producer William M. Pizor as part of his "Romantic Port O'Call" series, introduces his viewers to the Taj Mahal and nearby Agra Fort. Narrated by Dean H. Dickason, the film takes viewers on a tour of the fort and Taj Mahal while offering an introduction to the landmarks' historic, cultural, religious, and architectural dimensions. Produced by Imperial Pictures, this film is part of a series of travelogue films created by Pizor entitled "Port O' Call." "Love's memorial" refers to the Taj Mahal which, as viewers learn in this film, was constructed in honor of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan's wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Shah Jahan was the fifth emperor of the Mughal Empire, which is often referred to as the Timurid Empire by historians and scholars. The rulers were particularly interested in imperial architecture and gardens and many of the sites they commissioned remain famous landmarks today such as the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore, the Red Fort in Delhi and the Agra Fort and Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

Shah Jahan commissioned the Taj Mahal in 1632 and it houses Mumtaz Mahal's tomb, his own tomb, and a mosque. It is surrounded by ornate gardens.
