Restoring PlayStation 3 "Fat" with the yellow light of Death (YLOD) - Console Restoration & Repair

Another PS3 restoration, this second YLoD repair on the channel. This particular unit is a CECHE01 model, YLOD needs no introduction. The console doesn’t turn on and presents a yellow light followed by 3 beeps and a flashing red light i.e. the "Yellow Light of Death" or simply abbreviated YLoD.

Now the tricky part, there are not any available schematics for this exact model of PS3 that I could find. But there are some available that are a little similar which provide some hints about what might be the issue.

On the PlayStation 3, the NEC/TOKIN capacitors are prone to failure, causing a Yellow Light if Death error. This is a guide on replacing those capacitors.

The Yellow Light of Death is not an error with one specific fix; rather, it is a more general failure. This guide addresses ONE of the POTENTIAL problems causing a PS3 Yellow Light of Death, however, these capacitors are prone to failure anyway, so they should be replaced (if you are experienced enough) to help the longevity of the console.
