This short documentary follows Jamalia and Samerah, two women displaced by the 2017 Marawi Siege who continue to rebuild their lives in shelters located in the outskirts of the city.
Once internally displaced persons, they have become community broadcasters through S’bang Ka Marawi, a grassroots media platform that goes far beyond sharing stories. It has become a space for rights-claiming, seeking accountability, and mobilizing collective action among displaced residents.
Broadcasting Hope reveals how community media can evolve from a simple communication tool into a source of agency, dignity, and tangible change for those still striving to reclaim home and hope in post-siege Marawi.
