🌟 Kala Ke Sangh – A Musical Movement by Tabla Maestro Pandita Anuradha Pal 🌟
In July 2020, at the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown, World renowned Pandita Anuradha Pal launched Kala Ke Sangh — a unique 4-day online fundraiser music festival to support marginalized artists, musicians, dancers, puppeteers, instrument makers, folk communities, and artisans across India. Futher, Anuradha organised an Aatmanirbhar Kala-Ke-Sangh festival to provide marginalised artists with mobile wallets and the use of her popular social media pages to popularise their art and earn and liive with self respect, while being without work and money, during unfortunate lockdown during the pandemic.
🎶 The Kala Ke Sangh festival featured performances of over 27 legendary artists including Bhajan Samraat Anup Jalota, Santoor Maestro Pt. Satish Vyas, Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan and many more, spread over 4 days in an herculean effort to bringing together and showcase India’s cultural heritage to sensitise the general public, about the suffering of the marginalised artists during covid.
💝 Why Kala Ke Sangh?
Anuradha Pal, deeply moved by the plight of struggling artists, set up a transparent support system through her Anuradha Pal Cultural Foundation (APCF).
✔️ Simple Google form applications for help
✔️ Due diligence by her volunteer team
✔️ Direct bank transfers to 350+ families in 20 states (supporting nearly 2000 people)
✔️ Emergency medical aid & larger transfers (₹30,000 for cancer patients, families in crisis, etc.)
✔️ Food rations, medical kits, blankets to 150+ families in Mumbai
✔️ Supplies (wheelchairs, walkers, gloves, masks) to BMC hospitals & clinics in Mumbai
✔️ Support for 300+ families in Rajasthan villages with ration kits & medical aid
✨ Beneficiaries included:
Bheels, Garo & Kathodi tribals, Kathak dancers, puppeteers, knife jugglers, devotional singers, chorus & orchestra musicians, rare instrument makers (Morchang, Kamaicha, Sarangi), Kalbelia dancers, Kathputli artists, Terahtali, Ponung, Charkula, Matka Bhawai performers, drummers, shehnai & sarangi players, harmonium players, ghazal singers, percussionists & many more.
🌍 Impact: Beyond financial help, this initiative brought awareness to the suffering of the artistic community and highlighted the urgent need to preserve India’s folk, tribal & classical traditions.
