Working for the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad as an actor for The Polar Express Train ride has its benefits, and this was one of the biggest. I managed to get to work early on the Afternoon of November 15th, 2023, just in time to see #1702 pull in with the day's Tuckasegee River Excursion, before being put away for the evening, to be swapped out with the GSMR's newest locomotive, F9 #4210, originally built for the Erie Mining Company, who has been powering the Polar Express trips. We conclude later that night, after the Polar runs are over, watching the GSMR's pair of GP38's, 2335 and 2668, as they do a little switching with the Rio Grande Caboose.
Unfortunately, I was unable to bring my tripod, so the footage will be a tad bit shaky, but I hope some of the action you'll get to see will make up for it. so sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad!
