DOMINATION 3 - Australian Outback Time lapse Storm Experience - Gerkies

Nature is the almighty.
I cannot control its unpredictable power; I can only adapt to the control it has over me. Yet, our world tries to replicate and reshape this irreplaceable environment. My core focus is to continue researching and pursuing severe weather outbreaks across regional Australia allowing me to capture and communicate climatic conditions through visual scientific evidence and art.

DOMINATION 3, validates the continual conception, creation and collapse of powerful thunderstorm cells at approximately one millisecond per image. My passion and commitment to record and present natural environments that capture evolving turbulent vapour structures, fuel my respect for the domination of ancient and evolving weather systems over our insignificant digital lives.

My artworks document the compression of time to exploit my own time-lapse photograph; showcasing extraordinary forces of nature that when stretched into real-time, go unnoticed. The work is enhanced with my orchestral composition carefully constructed to intertwine itself with the characterisation of each approaching thunderstorm.

All 100,000+ photographs were assembled into film to capture the authority, aesthetic and immense scale of nature that showcases the continuously changing environment. Through mastery of the complex medium of film production, my artwork produces a mesmerising compilation that compresses time and energy, revealing landscapes, water vapour and refraction of light with colour in a visually dramatic exhibition of our globe’s troposphere.

My investigations allow my artworks to research, relive and reveal my experiences of time compression to audiences, while presenting unseen visual language communicated through incomprehensible meteorological conditions. This is only visible by manipulating the duration of time and visual evidence to track and present severe weather data that mankind hopes and strives to control.
