London Vocal Project perform L'il Darlin' , the Count Basie track by Neil Hefti, with lyrics by Jon Hendricks of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, at St Peter's Church, Manhattan, February 2017.
Prior to the premiere of Jon Hendricks' Miles Ahead, we performed a few Lambert, Hendricks and Ross classics, with Jon and Annie watching from the front row.
A project over 50 years in the making, vocalese master Jon Hendricks' complete lyricisation of the Miles Davis/Gil Evans album Miles Ahead was premiered in New York in February 2017, in the presence of Jon himself.
