From Teen Mom to a Certified Professional Midwife

In this episode, we are delighted to have Charity Bean, CMA, CFSD, CLC, CHW, SMW, share her heartfelt journey of becoming a Certified Midwife. Charity is a certified pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and postpartum doula who specializes in hospital birth. With numerous certifications including medical assistant, lactation consultant, birth assistant, and soon to be certified perinatal mood disorder counselor, Charity's passion for birth work stems from being a teen mom and working in the medical field.

She has dedicated 13 years to the medical field and is now pursuing a Bachelor's in the Science of Midwifery at the Midwives College of Utah. Charity is the founder of The Doula Lab pregnancy resource center and owner of Doula Bean Maternal Care, LLC, with a goal to open a free-standing birthing center in East St. Louis, Illinois.

Join us as Charity discusses her journey, the mentors and peers who have helped her, her vision for the future, and her perspective on the current state of healthcare and where it is heading in the next ten years. She also shares what she has learned that she didn't know prior to midwifery school and what she wishes she would have known prior to becoming a doula.
