Sarahan

Sarahan is a beautiful village located in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. It is famous for the beautiful views of the mountains and the Bhimakali Temple.
We started from Chandigarh in the noon and reached Sarahan at night after travelling for almost 300 km.

Where to Stay?
We stayed at Heritage Sarahan. It is aquaint homestay having great mountain views from the balcony. The homestay is about 1 km from Bhimakali Temple.

Bhimakali Temple
Bhimakali Temple is the major attraction of Sarahan. It is dedicated to Goddess Bhimakali who is the presiding deity of the former Bushahr rulers of the region. This princely state was located on the ancient Hindustan-Tibet Road. Bhimakali Temple is also said to be one of the Shakti Peeths of the Hindus. It is believed that the left ear of Sati had fallen down here.
The temple is almost 800 years old dominating the skyline of Sarahan. The architecture is a blend of Hindu and Buddhist styles.
It will take about 30 - 40 minutes to explore the temple.

How to reach?
Sarahan is usually done with Spiti Valley or Kinnaur valley trip.

However, if you want to visit here separately, there are a couple of direct buses from Shimla to Sarahan. You can also take a bus from Shimla to rampur and from rampur, you will get several buses to Sarahan all throug the day.
