Atlantis Reno – June 05, 2021

Short half-day gambling stop on our way to Crater Lake, OR. Casino was very busy on Saturday due to Belmont Stakes.

Gambling wise, I could not get anything going on STP DDB but got saved by a couple nice dealt quads after switching to regular Bonus Poker Triple Play. I know the payout would have been much higher on something other than Bonus Poker but the hands weren’t coming and such is life. Overall a super fun pit stop. Continue to have mixed feelings about VP at Atlantis but always seem to end up having a good time there. Overall, I left with a few $ more than I came with, and definitely can’t complain about that.

Thoughts on Atlantis

Pros:

Rooms: Rooms are always nice here, nothing too fancy but clean and ready early.

Casino: Casino was busy on Saturday and it felt nice, the energy and conversation at the bar almost felt like pre-COVID.

Bar near main elevators: The renovations done by this bar look fantastic. Additional plus (for us) is this bar is non-smoking. Also comped any specialty drinks from bar menu. The smoked Manhattans were great. Have always found bartenders at Atlantis to be great too.

Drinks: Cocktails and beers in normal glasses was a welcome change compared to the plastic cups from our last few trips to Reno. Another little thing on the way back to “normal”

Cons:

VP inventory – The lack of STP/DSTP machines is frustrating for us because those are our favorite machines. We always seem to be waiting for certain machines to be available at Atlantis. The plus side is all machines have decent pay tables. For the few machines that actually have STP/DSTP, I can’t understand why Atlantis limits available VP games to only 4 options or so. Why not have all the VP games available for STP/DSTP? They don’t even offer JOB (or other standard variations you typically see) on STP/DSTP. I don’t think I’ve seen this anywhere but here. At least they have DDB as one of the few options for STP/DSTP.

Main elevators – Seemed like there was a frequent wait to get on the main elevators, not sure if some were down but often saw a line here.
