Realistic Toy Steam Train With Smoke

It's fun to run this steam train on the layout inside my house, but the smell from the smokestack made my wife a little cranky!

The weather outside was just too cool and rainy to run my trains outdoors on this particular weekend, so I set up an indoor layout instead.

My newest locomotive, the LGB model 20273, is modeled after a real steam train from Switzerland's Rhaetian railroad. It features very realistic steam train sounds and even realistic smoke from the smokestack. My locomotive is one of only 399 that LGB made for the entire world!

The downside of running a model steam train indoors with the smoke unit turned on is that it can really stink up the house! But I used a little trick to make it not so bad... I used special smoke fluid that actually gives off the scent of apple pie rather than the smell of smoke! My wife thought that was pretty cool at first, but after a couple of hours, got a little annoyed by it! I only left this layout up for two days before taking it down and putting the trains away.

Almost all the trains you see in the video were purchased from Trainworld.com, and the apple pie flavored smoke fluid was, too!
