Lennon Wells - Hey Michael (Official Video)

On the verge of releasing their debut album ‘Blink (and you’ll miss it)’ Lennon Wells have one last single to set into the wild. Hey Michael is the 4th and final single from the upcoming album. Out November 26th and available on limited edition 12” vinyl and CD. The album was written and recorded between Adventure Bay, Bruny Island and Chapel Studio, Hobart. Recorded and produced by Alistair Campbell and Produced and Mixed by A. Swayze, the album us quintessentially Tasmanian.

Hey Michael is the most personal song from the record and lead singer Ben Wells understands the importance of sharing his experience.

“In 2024 I lost 3 mates to suicide. All friends from different periods of my life & from different groups but all the same age as me. It was a pretty heavy year as you'd imagine but this is the song that came out of it. My way of imagining I got the chance to speak to them before it all happened. I’m not sure where the name Michael came from. I guess I wanted it to feel like someone we all know, because that's kind of it, isn’t it. Everyone has some kind of experience with suicide whether it’s friends or family or someone you went to school with, and we all wish we had that chance to talk to them before it happened.”

The song blends influences from Talking Heads paired with rock anthem guitars & soaring choruses. At times the song leans towards INXS at its darkest, while still drawing the listener in to a dancefloor.
