[Piero Umiliani's music RHODES & ORGAN Live at home]

In assoluto insieme a pochi altri Piero Umiliani è il mio compositore-musicista preferito lo ascolto da quando sono nato e quando voglio viaggiare in mondi sonori veramente lontani dal nostro,ascolto la sua musica visionaria,qui rendo omaggio alla sua musica suonando alcune sue composizioni che amo, dopo che ho finito di registrare mi son reso conto che 3 pezzi vengono dalla colonna sonora de “I soliti ignoti” del 1958 e gl’altri sempre da temi di film,uno era L’Arcangelo (Pussycat’69) del 1969 mentre l’altro “Notte di mezza estate” dal film “Svezia inferno e paradiso”del 1968.
Io sono nato nel 1968 e in quegl’anni è fuori discussione che anche per film un po discutibili, come questi, venissero create da Umiliani delle colonne sonore che sarebbero rimaste nella storia della musica come questi temi che interpreto a modo mio con l’organo virtuale dell’ IMac e il mio rhodes 54 filtrato da un hotone phaze (phaser) che da un colore tipicamente seventy, dagl’anni 70 arriva a mio avviso, la più bella musica che sia mai stata scritta, in ogni genere secondo me, i musicisti erano liberi e creativi e anche chi faceva musica commerciale, la faceva seguendo i crismi della qualità, del metterci passione nella qualità di quel che produceva, certo anche allora c’era il business legato alla discografia, ma mai come adesso ,che viene prodotta musica fatta solo per vendere subito ed essere dimenticata subito dopo.

Together with a few others, Piero Umiliani is my absolute favourite composer-musician. I have been listening to him since I was born, and when I want to travel to sound worlds really far away from our own, I listen to his visionary music, After I finished recording I realised that 3 pieces came from the soundtrack of "I soliti ignoti" from 1958 and the others from film themes, one was "L'Arcangelo (Pussycat'69)" from 1969 and the other "Notte di mezza estate" from the film "Svezia inferno e paradiso" from 1968, I was born in 1968 and in those years it was out of the question that even for films that were a bit questionable, like these, Umiliani created soundtracks that would remain in the history of music, like these themes that I interpret in my own way with the virtual organ of the IMac and my rhodes 54 filtered by a hotone phaze (phaser) that gives a typically seventies colour. In my opinion, the most beautiful music that has ever been written in any genre comes from the 70s, musicians were free and creative and even those who made commercial music, made it following the rules of quality, of putting passion in the quality of what they produced, of course even then there was the business related to the discography, but never as now that music is produced,
made only to sell immediately and be forgotten immediately after.
