In this talk, Brian Cox shows and explains the earliest captured photographs of Venus taken by the Russian spacecraft VENERA 9 in the year 1975. At that time, the Soviet Union's Venera 9 probe captured the first-ever images from the surface of another planet. The first probe to land on Venus only lasted for an hour and measured the surface temperature at about 465 degrees Celsius. The Venera Lander scanned the surface back and forth to create panoramic images of their surroundings. Additionally, he discussed other properties of the planet, including atmospheric pressure compared to Earth, and explained what would happen if you were to land on Venus's surface. At the end of the video, he explains why it's impossible to go there due to the presence of sulfuric acid rain on Venus. By the time we would reach its surface, acid would dissolve us.
