1. After 10th (High School)
Entry: GP Rating Course
• Duration: 6 months
• Eligibility:
• Age: 17.5 – 25 years
• Minimum 40% in 10th with English, Math, and Science
• Medically fit with good eyesight (6/6 vision)
• Rank after course: Ordinary Seaman / Engine Room Cadet
• Career Path: Can become an Officer after sea-time and exams (NCV/CoC)

2. After 12th (Science Stream)
A. Deck Officer via DNS (Diploma in Nautical Science)
• Duration: 1 year + onboard training
• Eligibility:
• 12th with PCM ≥ 60% and English ≥ 50%
• Age: up to 25 years
• Sponsorship: Mandatory via shipping company
• Career Path: Cadet → 3rd Officer → 2nd Officer → Chief Officer → Captain
B. Marine Engineer via B.Tech / B.E. Marine Engineering
• Duration: 4 years
• Eligibility:
• 12th with PCM ≥ 60%
• Age: up to 25 years
• Approved Institutes: IMU-affiliated or DGS-approved
• Career Path: Engine Cadet → 4th Engineer → 3rd Engineer → 2nd Engineer → Chief Engineer
C. ETO (Electro Technical Officer)
• Duration: 4 months (ETO course after diploma/degree)
• Eligibility:
• Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronics
• Approved by DG Shipping
• Career Path: Electrical Officer on ships

A. Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) Course
• Duration: 1 year
• Eligibility:
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile/Naval Arch with ≥ 50%
• Age: Up to 28 years
• Rank after training: Junior Engineer
B. DNS via B.Sc (PCM)
• If you hold a B.Sc. (PCM ≥ 60%), you can directly enroll in DNS and become a Deck Officer.

• Some companies (e.g., Anglo-Eastern, Great Eastern, Synergy) offer sponsored cadet programs, which include written exams, interviews, and medicals.

5. Through IMU CET
• Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) is the main route for:
• B.Sc. Nautical Science
• B.Tech Marine Engineering
• DNS Program (for IMU campuses/affiliated colleges)
• Conducted twice a year, followed by counselling and admissions.
