Calculation of the shear demand for a flexible diaphragm, by example. Starts from the diaphragm design force for the whole diaphragm. Allocates the force to segments of the diaphragm between lines of resistance. Computes shear demand as shear and as shear divided by diaphragm depth. Note that there is a typographical error: w2 is incorrectly written as 0.9 when the correct value is 1.2. The subsequent values are correct. Recorded for CE 4650 at Cal State LA.
