Step into the world of 1930s luxury with the 1931 Marmon 16, one of the finest cars of its era. This masterpiece is one of only two commercially produced V16 engines in history, alongside the Cadillac V16.

Watch as Steven and Dan show-off innovative engineering, stunning Art Deco design, and the unparalleled performance of the Marmon 16 - a car that defines elegance and precision.

What Sets the Marmon 16 Apart?
While Cadillac introduced their V16 engine first, the Marmon 16 surpassed it in innovation. Crafted from a copper-aluminum alloy, the Marmon’s engine was lightweight and advanced for its time, weighing 600 pounds less than its Cadillac counterpart. Its steel sleeve liners addressed challenges with early aluminum blocks, making it both durable and efficient.

Every Marmon 16 was tested at the Indianapolis Speedway, ensuring speeds of up to 105 mph. This attention to detail highlights Howard Marmon’s commitment to excellence, a tradition that began with Marmon winning the first-ever Indianapolis 500 in 1911.

Art Deco Design at Its Best
The Marmon 16 isn’t just an engineering marvel; it’s a work of art. Its sleek chrome lines, refined interior, and elegant louvers embody the Art Deco era. From thermostatically controlled louvers on the radiator to convertible pillars that disappear for a seamless profile, every detail is meticulously crafted. The interior speaks of understated luxury with chrome accents, grays, and blacks that remain timelessly stylish.

Driving Excellence
Driving the Marmon 16 is as thrilling as it is luxurious. Despite weighing 5,400 pounds, its synchronized transmission ensures a smooth, effortless ride. The tight steering and stable handling provide the perfect blend of comfort and control, making it one of the best-driving cars of the 1930s.

A Rare Treasure
Today, the Marmon 16 is widely regarded as one of the finest automobiles of the pre-war era. The Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum is proud to have two of these exceptional vehicles in our collection, preserving their legacy for future generations.
