How Matte Paint Works
1. Rough Surface Texture – Matte paint contains microscopic particles or additives that create an uneven surface at the microscopic level. Unlike glossy paint, which has a smooth surface that reflects light directly, matte paint scatters light in multiple directions, reducing reflections.
2. Different Clear Coat Formula – Regular car paint has a high-gloss clear coat that enhances shine. Matte paint, however, uses a special low-gloss or satin clear coat that diffuses light instead of amplifying it.
3. Special Pigments and Additives – Some matte paints include silica-based flattening agents or other compounds that further break up reflections, giving the car a soft, non-reflective appearance.
