Pronation vs supination: What's the difference between these two body movements that you must learn in anatomy courses?
Pronation and supination are special body movements that involve rotation of the forearm. During supination, the radius rotates over the ulna in a lateral direction. Remember, lateral means away from the body's midline.

In contrast, pronation involves the motion of rotating the forearm in a medial fashion, with the end result being the thumbs pointing toward the midline of the body and the palms facing either down (when elbow is flexed) or toward the back when in the anatomical position.
This video includes a simple supination vs pronation mnemonic to help you remember the two movements.
