This is the final drive of our India overlanding journey.
We leave Bhubaneswar on NH-316A, merge back onto NH-16, and drive all the way to Kolkata. Along the way, we cross some of eastern India’s most important rivers and landscapes — the Kuakhai and Daya near Bhubaneswar, the Baitarani at Bhadrak, the Budhabalanga near Balasore, the Subarnarekha at the Odisha–West Bengal border, and finally the Hooghly as Kolkata absorbs us completely.
This route runs through ancient delta land shaped by monsoons, myth, trade, temples, colonial history, railways, and everyday life. No mountains. No drama. Just rivers, flatlands, towns, traffic, and the slow realisation that this chapter is ending.
We parked Shehzadi in Kolkata knowing this wasn’t just another city arrival. It was the closing frame of our India overlanding series.
