Big Sky’s - “Calamity Jane”

Skiing Big Sky’s blue cruiser - “Calamity Jane”, January 2022

Named after the legendary frontierswoman, and sharpshooter with various other attributes, Calamity Jane is a blue cruiser accessible right from the exit of the Swift Current lift in the main Mountain Base area. This run starts off from a long, mild headwall right at the exit of the Swift Current lift and follows the lift line for a short distance until you reach the 2nd, steeper headwall. After that it’s a series of short ups-and-downs and mild slopes. It spans a total of roughly 1660 vertical feet over approximately 1.7 miles.

Legend in the area has it that the ghost of her and her horse Jim can sometimes be seen scouring those that pass by the run named in her honor.
