STORYLINE:

Milan residents were recovering on Friday from the shock of Thursday's plane crash.

At least three people were killed and 60 injured when a small plane crashed into this Italian city's landmark Pirelli office tower on Thursday.

Authorities said the crash, which came after the pilot reported landing gear problems, appeared to be accidental.

But initial reports suggested it may have been a terror attack and September 11 was certainly on the minds of some of those near the tower when the plane impacted.

The crash left gaping holes on both sides of the slim skyscraper.

Smoke poured out of the building after the crash, but firefighters quickly put out the flames.

Debris, including glass, twisted metal and office papers still litters the ground around the foot of the tower.
