In celebration of my new record, Carolina Mountains (out Sept 5), we are section hiking the NC AT. Singles are out now, look for “I Am Mine” and “Hard Working Women” by Sparrow Smith.
This is a short, accessible section near Erwin TN, apx 5.5 miles. Includes great views from Beauty Spot Gap, and a gorgeous spruce forest up top. There is significant hurricane damage at the top of the mountain and along the Ridgelines between Unaka mountain and Hughes gap, with a 6 mile detour up top the tn side, so we are skipping that portion for now and hoping it’s reopened next year.
Shout out to Outdoor Vitals for this amazing ultralight pack that suits my needs perfectly! It fits everything I need for several days of backpacking, including my tiny banjo that I’m hiking with. It’s also small and light enough to use for day hikes. Super comfy and well made.
