Tesla just dropped FSD 14.2.2.1, literally right after 14.2.2 — so I took it out for a real-world first impressions drive in Metro Vancouver, driving through Burnaby, Surrey and New Westminster.
FSD 14.2.2.1 is here — right after I literally posted my 14.2.2 video.
This drive is my first impressions test of 14.2.2.1 (Tesla says it’s a minor bug-fix build), and overall the driving confidence feels better — less hesitation, less jitter, smoother merges… BUT I’m still seeing the same frustrating issue I keep calling out.
On the driving side, FSD continues to impress. Lane confidence is better, hesitation and jittering from earlier versions appear largely resolved, and it handles heavy fog, highway speeds, HOV lanes, and dense traffic with confidence
Navigation data is the bane of FSD’s existence.
In this video:
I test 14.2.2.1 in heavy fog on the highway
I force an HOV lane route and watch how it behaves on exits
FSD crosses a solid white line (not acceptable)
I test Grok navigation + “no stories” requests
I try the viral claim that Grok can “move you to another parking spot” (it can’t)
And I show a real example of the car/Grok routing to the wrong Walmart location repeatedly — proving the navigation layer is still unreliable.
FSD can do the hard parts impressively well — but when the destination pin and routing data are off, it creates real-world frustration and makes “robotaxi” claims hard to take seriously.
These aren’t edge cases — they’re fundamental navigation issues that make unsupervised autonomy impossible today, no matter how good the driving stack becomes.
If you watched to the end, drop a comment saying “watched to the end” — I’ll shout you out in the next video.
