Join me on an incredible hiking journey at the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain (玉龙雪山, also called Jade Dragon Snow Mountain), Lijiang, Yunnan.
This route, known locally as Dry Riverbed (干河坝), is one of Lijiang’s most popular outdoor trails — combining gorges, meadows, alpine lakes, and glacier views all in one breathtaking hike.
📍 Location: Yuhu Village (玉湖村), Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang, Yunnan, China
The hike starts from the ancient Naxi village of Yuhu, where traditional houses are built from glacial stones. From there, we walk through peaceful pastures and open meadows with stunning views of Yulong Snow Mountain towering above.
The trail continues deep into the Dry Riverbed Valley, surrounded by majestic peaks. The highlight awaits at the end — Milk Lake (牛奶湖), whose surreal milky-turquoise color comes from glacial meltwater carrying fine rock powder, reflecting sunlight in a magical way.
Because Dry Riverbed is not an official tourist site, it retains its raw, untouched natural beauty — offering one of the most authentic and unforgettable hiking experiences in Yunnan.
