In this peaceful recording, both owlets are inside the nest.
You can clearly see the size difference between the two — and there’s a beautiful reason for it.
🟤 Owl eggs don’t hatch at the same time.
Spotted Eagle Owls lay eggs several days apart, so the first chick hatches earlier and becomes bigger and stronger before the next one arrives.
💛 In this nest, the older/bigger owlet is also an adopted chick.
The mother owl raised it alongside her own younger chick, and the two now share the nest calmly together.
You can see how the older one gives the smaller one space and time to move forward.
These gentle moments show how owl families cooperate in the nest.
Filmed in my garden in South Africa.
Thank you for watching — especially to our growing audience in Japan! 🇯🇵🦉✨
