AutoX Nightmare: First Race with Bike Carb Conversion (MK2 Golf) 😱

In this video I share with you my first AutoX / Autoslalom event with the bike carb conversion. This event was organized by Push it to the Limit (PITL). The car didn't do well mostly due to lack of grip from the worn down Nankang NS2Rs but also partly due to my poor driving. I placed 84th out of 89 attendees. The car was also experiencing heat soak issues at idle when lining up at grid, a couple people witnessed gas leaking out of the bike carb vent tubes through my hood vents. Before the gas would leak out, the engine would show a significant drop of rpm in idle and sound weird as well as run rich. My theory is that this is due to the fuel feed line and float bowls sitting right on top of a big radiator hose that gets hot. I plan to address this by making some sort of heat shield for next event.

Still happy for my guys Rajan taking 16th and Dylan 30th.

Hopefully I get a better result next time around. I plan to go again next month, this time with polyurethane rear bushings, a Shine rear sway bar, and new RT660 tires. Hoping for top 50% this time.
