What YOU can LEARN from this video?

1. Who Can Withdraw a Claim: Veterans or their authorized representatives (e.g., VSOs or attorneys) can withdraw any type of claim, including disability compensation, pension, survivor benefits, and apportionments.

2. How to Withdraw a Claim: There's no prescribed form, but it is recommended to submit a withdrawal request in writing (using VA Form 21-526EZ or VA Form 21-4138), either through the VA's Quick Submit link or by mail. Afterward, contact the VA's 800-number (800-827-1000) to confirm the withdrawal request.

3. Timing and Deadlines: A claim withdrawal is valid only if the VA receives it before issuing a decision notice. If you withdraw after the decision, you must either accept or renounce the benefits offered. Additionally, if you retract your withdrawal request, the VA must receive it within 30 days.

4. Withdrawal and Examinations: The VA doesn't accept a claim withdrawal simply because an examination is canceled. You must formally submit a withdrawal request, either in writing or orally.

5. Reasons for Withdrawal: Common reasons include deciding not to continue with the claims process, reaching a desired overall disability percentage, or realizing that a claim doesn't meet the criteria for service connection.
