Few things in the Early Cold War showcased naval dominance quite like the spread of second-hand warships. Especially when those warships ended up in former Axis navies. Japan would famously end up with several American destroyers, while their own destroyers started out as a mix of Japanese and American design.
Germany also received American warships. Six Fletchers. These are rather less famous, due in large part to having either short or uneventful careers. Or both. But what they lack of 'big moments' they more than make up for in a different regard.
Being the core of a rebuilding German fleet, training a new generation of sailors. That isn't something to forget or ignore.
