How I Became a Game Dev (even though i didn't really like games) 🎈

I talk about how / why I became a game dev out of the blue. I like how it's not really necessary to think about stuff like "why this game must exist in the world" as long as it's fun... It's sort of like fine art, in a way. BUT you don't necessarily NEED someone to see your artwork. With games, it's more interactive. You need PLAYERS to play it. It's a very "human" medium. You can say it's very "practical". Sometimes it's ok to have bugs because it's funnier. Sometimes it's ok to make a perfect chair if you want to. You know you will never make a "perfect" game because making just a basic one probably takes a lot of time. I say all this in an indie context. I think working at a big game company really would not be fun, for me at least.

☝️ A little more on graphic design: My frustrations about the design industry accumulated throughout a few years. The current industry trend, my own personal changes, and environmental issues all play a part in my eventual disdain for it. I can never list all the reasons in a single video. But... it has definitely laid the foundation that help me think systematically and make desirable visual decisions. I'm still a graphic designer! I will always appreciate thoughtful design. It's just I've found another way that I can make a more significant impact on other people and ofc myself too.
