Hi guys, good morning. Today we are excited because we are going to a place which is quite famous. This is Smita’s Lake View Restaurant in Siridao. We’ve heard wonderful things about her food so we’re really looking forward to a nice lunch today

As we were coming from the Margao side, we stayed below the Bambolim flyover for Siridao. That’s about all we can tell you of the way because even though we followed Google Maps, we got quite lost. We found the way through the traditional method of asking people but still got a little lost. The Google Maps location of Smita’s Lake View restaurant is in the video description. It’s not too hard to reach Smita’s Lake View, just ask the residents for the way

There is ample parking right beside the lovely lake here though we had to tread carefully as the parking area was a bit flooded during the rains

We got a table beside the lake. There are quite a few tables beside the lake in this large restaurant. Maria and Roma both were thrilled with the lake view

The photos of the dishes at their takeaway counter are so tempting

The menu has a great variety of fish. Definitely I want prawns thali today. First time I saw teesrio pulao on a menu. Smita’s has some rare items like teesrio cutlet and mackerel cutlet

Those who ask about pet friendly places, Smita’s Lake View is definitely one

We ordered chonak fry, teesrio pulao, prawns thali and the waiter suggested we try Smita ma’am’s speciality pomfret green masala fry, with two pomfrets in the plate

Roma’s lovely looking chonak masala rawa fry was very good. Very soft and juicy. The masala is also very nice

So far what we’ve heard about this place is correct

The pulao was too good. They put nice masala and all. First impression, good impression

Maria’s trying the pomfret now Very juicy. It’s very different from what we’ve had

Here comes my prawn thali. Wow, so many things. Two vatis (of curry). The thali had rawa fry prawns, salad, sol kari, sweet, beetroot bhaji, kismur, teesrio, chonak curry, prawn curry and rice

Time to sample the thali, starting with the prawn and drumstick curry. Lovely prawn curry. Really good stuff. Now let’s try the rawa fried prawns. Superb. Trying the kismur now. Very nice, tasty kismur. Now to taste the teesrio. Just okay okay. The teesrio pulao is very nice but the teesrio sukka is okay. Now I’ll try the chonak curry. Nice. The prawns were too big for me to finish all. Let’s try this sweet thing. Not nice. And finally sol kari. Very bad

Food here is very good

But we got one unexpected bomb of a bill. That pomfret green masala is nearly Rs 2,000

I did not have enough cash for that high a bill. I had to do combination of GPay and (cash). This was our mistake that we followed the waiter’s recommendation without first asking the price of the dish. Given the experiences we have had at some places, we should have been more wary. We know that pomfret is expensive but we were not expecting so much because the pomfrets were on the smaller side. We are going home with heavy stomachs and very light pockets

The lunch was tasty, the pomfret was a bit pricey but on the whole it was tasty

One of the standout features of this restaurant was definitely the view. If you like river view then you will definitely like this place

The chonak fry was really good, the masala was really nice. The teesrio pulao was really very tasty

The bill was quite surprising, mostly because of the pomfret. But all else, everything else was really great

I had the prawns thali on which I was very impressed that there was not only a prawns curry with drumstick but also a chonak curry and both the curries tasted different and were very delicious. I loved the kismur on the thali but I was not impressed with the teesrio, with the sweet and with the sol kari

And about the pomfret I want to say to all of you, please don’t make the mistake we did of just agreeing to what the waiter suggested. He suggested that we try their speciality pomfret green masala. I definitely did not feel I got value for what I paid. Rs 1,800 for 2 pomfrets the size of my hand, I don’t call that value for money. So please be on your guard when ordering here because clearly they suggest very expensive dishes to people to order here

The taste of the pomfret, though it was good, I’ll be very honest that at the end of the day it left a bad taste in my mouth because I had to pay so much for it

The chonak fry that we ordered, chonak rawa masala fry was really superb and melting in the mouth

But I don’t think I’ll come here again
