KONE (Motala) Platform Lift Onboard a Ship

You've seen all the normal elevators in the ship including all the service/crew only elevators from the aft to bow, now it's time to see something slightly different.

Quite an interesting platform lift onboard a ship. It is found on the portside of the theater and functions as a "barrier free lift" so that disabled people and wheelchair users can go between the two seating decks (the theater spans three decks but the top deck can only be accessed through the normal passenger elevators just outside the entrances, it seems that the bottom deck has a reserved area for the disabled). This is one of the two platform lifts in the entire ship. The other one is on Deck 5 at the aft part of the ship which I've also filmed.

This lift was manufactured by Motala Hissar but branded as KONE; this is because Motala is now part of KONE and the latter also sells Motala platform lifts under their brand. In fact, the speaker on the button panel is shaped like a Motala Hissar logo. Like most Swedish platform lifts, it features "hold to run" operation where you must hold the button down to make the lift move, something like a manually controlled elevator would normally do. Despite this, it is actually possible to send the lift up and down from the outside without having to hold down the call button, and the lift will automatically return to the lower level when it's not in use. The swing doors works automatically, and even if you pull the handle they will eventually open by itself although it can still be manually opened in case of a power failure. The fixtures are generic made by DMG with B7 Maxxi buttons. Lastly, in the gaps located on both ends of the lift is the chain mechanism that pulls the lift which looks almost like a bike chain. The motor is on the upper level along with the control cabinet next to the door, similar to a normal MRL elevator.
